Spain has something for every beach bum, from the breathtaking wilderness of Cabo de Gata to celebrity-packed beach clubs of Ibiza or Marbella.
Apart from the beautiful beaches, Spain has the privilege of leading the world ranking (and has done so since 1987) with 691 Blue Flag beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating tourism operators (2021) – according to the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), which manages the Blue Flag program. This represents more than 25% of the total number of Blue Flag sites worldwide. The Blue Flag is an international certification that recognizes beaches, marinas, and boat tourism operators that meet strict environmental and safety standards.
With so many strips of sand to choose from, you may feel overwhelmed with how to choose. To help you, we’ve broken things down essential Spanish beaches for your bucket (and shovel) list.
