In fact, it is believed that it was goats and not man who discovered coffee.
\nThe story goes that around the year 850, it was noticed that some goats were jumping lively from eating unknown berries. Trying to eat those bright red berries, they turned out to be so bitter that by throwing them into the fire, the roasting coffee began to give off a delicious and irresistible aroma.<\/p>\n

It seems that the coffee plant originated in the highlands of Abyssinia, today’s Ethiopia (Africa); in the 16th century, passing through neighboring Yemen and then the Arabian Peninsula, it reached Constantinople, today’s Istanbul, where the first establishment serving this beverage was opened. But it was not until 1615 that coffee was introduced to Europe through the Venetian fleet, and when the Turks had to hastily abandon the siege of Vienna in 1683, they left behind more than 500 bags of coffee. Defying the popular belief that coffee was the devil’s drink and despite even being condemned by the Church, the Viennese enjoyed it so much that the world-renowned Viennese coffee culture flourished.<\/p>\n

De hecho, se cree que fueron las cabras y no el hombre quienes descubrieron el caf\u00e9.
\nLa historia cuenta que, hacia el a\u00f1o 850, se observ\u00f3 que algunas cabras daban saltos de alegr\u00eda por comer bayas desconocidas. Al intentar comer aquellas bayas de color rojo brillante, resultaron ser tan amargas que al echarlas al fuego, el caf\u00e9 tostado empez\u00f3 a desprender un olor delicioso e irresistible.<\/p>\n

Parece ser que la planta del caf\u00e9 se origin\u00f3 en las tierras altas de Abisinia, la actual Etiop\u00eda (\u00c1frica); en el siglo XVI, pasando por el vecino Yemen y luego por la Pen\u00ednsula Ar\u00e1biga, lleg\u00f3 a Constantinopla, la actual Estambul, donde se abri\u00f3 el primer caf\u00e9 que serv\u00eda esta bebida. Pero no fue hasta 1615 cuando el caf\u00e9 se introdujo en Europa a trav\u00e9s de la flota veneciana, y cuando los turcos tuvieron que abandonar precipitadamente el sitio de Viena en 1683, dejaron atr\u00e1s m\u00e1s de 500 sacos de caf\u00e9. Desafiando la creencia popular de que el caf\u00e9 era la bebida del diablo y a pesar de que estaba condenado por la Iglesia, los vieneses lo apreciaban tanto que floreci\u00f3 la mundialmente famosa cultura vienesa del caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

Il viaggio nell\u2019universo del caff\u00e8 \u00e8 un viaggio affascinante intorno al mondo, cos\u00ec come \u00e8 affascinante la leggenda che avvolge le sue origini e la sua scoperta.<\/p>\n

Infatti si ritiene che siano state le capre e non l\u2019uomo a scoprire il caff\u00e8.
Si racconta che, attorno all\u2019anno 850, si not\u00f2 che alcune capre saltavano vivacemente per aver mangiato delle bacche sconosciute. Provando a mangiare quei frutti rosso vivo, risultarono cos\u00ec amari che buttandoli nel fuoco, il caff\u00e8 tostandosi incominci\u00f2 ad emanare un profumo delizioso e irresistibile.<\/p>\n

Sembra che la pianta del caff\u00e8 s\u00ec originaria degli altipiani dell\u2019Abissinia l\u2019attuale Etiopia (Africa); nel XVI secolo, passando per il vicino Yemen e poi la penisola arabica, giunge a Costantinopoli l\u2019attuale Istanbul, dove fu aperto il primo locale che serviva questa bevanda. Ma \u00e8 solo nel 1615 che il caff\u00e8 sar\u00e0 introdotto in Europa attraverso la flotta veneziana e quando nel 1683 i turchi dovettero abbandonare precipitosamente l\u2019assedio di Vienna, lasciarono oltre 500 sacchi di caff\u00e8. Sfidando la credenza popolare che il caff\u00e8 fosse la bevanda del diavolo e nonostante fosse persino condannata dalla Chiesa, i viennesi lo apprezzarono cos\u00ec tanto da far fiorire la cultura dei caff\u00e8 viennesi noti in tutto il mondo.<\/p>\n

Nel XVII secolo la domanda di caff\u00e8 era in costante crescita tanto che le potenze coloniali ne diffusero la coltivazione in altre parti del globo fino a giungere ai giorni nostri e far s\u00ec che questa bevanda si convertisse nella pi\u00f9 apprezzata al mondo.<\/p>\n
