Pobles del Sud
Poblados del Sur (also known as Pobles del Sud) is a district in Valencia located south of the city. It’s made up of seven towns that were joined with Valencia in 1877. Back then, Ruzafa and these towns were considered separate municipalities. Pobles del Sud is the biggest district in Valencia.
It’s important to note that in 1811, Ruzafa, which included the areas now part of Ensanche, Quatre Carreres, and Poblados del Sur, became an independent municipality. But in 1877, they became part of Valencia along with the seven towns.
The seven towns, which are like neighborhoods, are: Horno de Alcedo (Forn D’Alcedo), Castellar-L’Oliveral, Pinedo, El Saler, El Palmar, El Perellonet, La Torre, and Faitanar.
Benefits:
- Proximity to natural areas such as El Saler and Pinedo, offering beautiful beaches and natural landscapes
- Preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the seven towns
- A sense of community and local identity within each neighborhood
- Availability of spacious and quieter residential areas compared to the city center
- Access to rural landscapes and agricultural activities
- Opportunity for a more relaxed and peaceful lifestyle
Drawbacks:
- Potential distance from the central areas of Valencia and their amenities
- Reliance on public transportation (bus only) or longer commutes for certain facilities and services
- Limited employment opportunities within the immediate area, leading to potential commuting
- Potential lack of diverse commercial and entertainment options compared to city centers
- Possibility of slower development and infrastructure improvements compared to urban areas
- Possible seasonal fluctuations in population and availability of services in coastal areas
