Sangria is a refreshing and fruity drink that originated in Spain and is now enjoyed all over the world. Traditionally made with red wine, the drink has evolved to include variations made with white wine, Cava, or even beer. One of the most popular ingredients in modern Sangria is Licor 43, a sweet and citrusy liqueur that adds a unique flavor to the drink.

The origins of Sangria can be traced back to Spain in the Middle Ages, where it was first made with red wine, fruit, and spices. The drink was a way to make wine more palatable and refreshing during the hot summer months. Over time, Sangria became popular throughout Spain and was eventually introduced to other parts of Europe and the Americas.

In recent years, Sangria has undergone a transformation, with many people experimenting with different types of wine, fruit, and liqueurs. One popular variation is Sangria made with Cava, a sparkling wine from Spain, and Licor 43, a sweet and fragrant liqueur made with 43 different herbs and spices. The combination of Cava, white wine, or even sparkling water with Licor 43 adds a delicious twist to this classic drink.

Sun-Kissed Sangria

Sun-Kissed Sangria

Yield: 6 servings


  • 1 bottle cava or white wine (750 ml) chilled
  • 2 cups sparkling water (500 ml ) (optional - we recommend Vichy Catalan)
  • 3 cups sliced fruit - apples, peaches, grapes, orange segments and strawberries.
  • 1/4 cup sugar (50 g) (optional)
  • 1 cup Licor 43 original (250 ml)
  • 1/4 cup violet flower syrup (50 ml)
  • ice cubes


    Fill the jug for 1/3 with ice cubes and add the sliced fruit. If adding sugar, add it in now.

    Pour the cava or white wine and Vichy Catalan

    Add Licor 43 Original and the violet flower syrup

    Stir, garnish and serve.


You can also use rose syrup if you don't have violet flower syrup.

Garnish with additional fruit and enjoy!
