Alicante TRAM Routes

Alicante TRAM is a rail service that connects Alicante city centre with 12 municipalities including
Playa San Juan, El Campello, Benidorm and Denia.

NOTE: The use of the mask is mandatory on all public transport.

Line 1: Luceros (Alicante) – Benidorm

Line 1 of the TRAM connects the central Plaza de Los Luceros with Benidorm. The total length of the route is 43 km. Units 4100 circulate on this line, they are trains that reach 100km/h and that combine sections in the tram system and others with a railway platform. In Benidorm there is a link with line L9 with final destination Denia.

The Alicante – Benidorm connection has a total of 20 intermediate stations. From Luceros you can get to El Campello quite quickly and from there there are numerous stops before reaching Benidorm.

The Benidorm – Alicante connection is one of the most used transport methods. From the Benidorm stop located on Crta. Estació , the line 1 tram leaves approximately every half hour. The entire journey to Alicante takes about an hour and takes place along the coast, overlooking the beach for much of the journey.

Line 2: Luceros (Alicante) – Sant Vicent del Raspeig

TRAM line 2 is the line most used by Alicante residents and connects Plaza de los Luceros with the center of San Vicent del Raspeig. Travel a total of 9 km. which completes in about 25 minutes. Frequencies of passage are approximately 8 minutes at rush hour. The trains are 4200 units, designed to circulate in urban environments, reaching 70 km/h.

On its way it passes through the Market, the Marq, the Pla neighborhood, the general hospital, Virgen del Remedio, Ciudad Jardín and the University.

Line 3: Luceros (Alicante) – El Campello

Line 3 of the TRAM connects Alicante with El Campello on a route that runs parallel to the coast, passing through San Juan and Muchavista. The route is 14.5 km. which are completed in about 25 minutes. It has a frequency of passage of 20 minutes at rush hour and 30 minutes.

Line 4: Luceros (Alicante) – Playa San Juan 

Line 4 of the TRAM connects the city center with the neighborhoods of La albufereta, Barrio de las Huertas and Playa San Juan. The trains are 4200 units, since it is an entirely urban route line. Its passing frequency is about 30 minutes.

Line 5: Puerta del Mar – Plaza de La Coruña

Line 5 of the TRAM connects the sea front of the city of Alicante, with Albufereta Beach, San Juan Beach and Cabo de las Huertas. It has its stop in front of Postiguet Beach, in Puerta del Mar.

This new line has a connection at the Lucentum stop with L1 and L3, and at the Sangueta stop with L1, L3 and L4.

In principle it will work from June to October, as a reinforcement to Line 4 during the summer period. Depending on the demand and use during these summer months, it will last for the rest of the year.

Line 9: Benidorm – Denia

Line 9 connects Benidorm with the capital of the Marina Alta, Denia. Its passing frequency is one train every hour.

NOTE: Rail service between Gata – Dénia is temporarily suspended.

As a result of the complete infrastructure renovation work being carried out on Line 9 the rail service between Gata and Dénia stations has been temporarily suspended, and the route is being run by a substitute bus service.

  • Gata – Dénia:    The departure times of the Gata-Denia bus are at 20-minutes past the hour
  • Dénia – Gata:    Dénia-Gata bus schedules at 40-minutes past the hour

The two buses that are currently in service are adapted.

It is mandatory to use the public transport card before getting on the bus. This is the only way to use this transfer (transbordo).

TRAMnochador summer 2022

TRAMnochador, the TRAM d’Alacant night service for summer weekends, and El Mussol de Les Marines, which also runs through the night and on the same dates between Benidorm and Garganes, will be back in service from 1st July to 27th August.

With both services, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) facilitates access to the main leisure areas of Alicante in a safe way, and thus reaches thousands of citizens, especially young people, who can travel during the early hours of the morning without having to use their own vehicle.

TRAMnochador and El Mussol de Les Marines

TRAMnochador is in service throughout the night between Luceros and the towns of Benidorm (L1); Sant Vicent del Raspeig (L2); El Campello (L3); and Playa de San Juan (L4), stopping at the different stations and stops on these routes.

In addition, El Mussol de Les Marines links Benidorm and Garganes, in the municipality of Altea, on Fridays and Saturdays during the summer on Line 9 of TRAM d’Alacant.

Every Friday and Saturday of these two months, the Generalitat, through the TRAM d’Alacant, facilitates the mobility of its users with new prices, in force since 17th June, which allow trips to be cheaper by up to 50%. In addition to the weekends, on Sunday 14th August, eve of the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, TRAMnochador and El Mussol de Les Marines will also be in service.

These special services are part of the initiatives to improve the service provided by Metrovalencia and TRAM d’Alacant, which include increasing night services to extend the offer to a greater number of users.
