This information should help you navigate the different types of accommodation options in Valencia: hotels, bed and breakfast, youth hostels, apartments, hostals and villas. Each section provides basic information as well as the pros and cons of each accommodation option.
Hotel
Valencia offers hotels for all tastes and budgets. Hotels are a good option if you are looking for some luxury. They are also a good option if you have little time to spare during your holiday – you will have your room cleaned and tidied daily and you will have the options to have food in the hotel. They are likely to appeal less if you are on a tight budget (a youth hostel or AirBnB might be a better idea) or if you are traveling with a large group (in this case apartments can be a good option).
Pensions / Hostals / B & B
In Valencia there are places known as pensions, hostals (not the same as a hostel with an ‘e’) or B & B’s (bed and breakfast) that are like cheaper hotels. They are normally small and basic family run hotels where you could be asked to share a bathroom. They offer the same advantages as hotels, but at a lower price.
Youth hostels
Youth hostels are suitable for those on a tight budget. It is important to remember that if you are staying in a youth hostel you will be sharing a room with anything up to twelve people. You will also be sharing a bathroom. Youth hostels often tend to be a popular option for young people who are travelling for extended periods.
Apartments / Holiday Rental Apartments
Apartments are a good option if you are looking for an independent holiday. You will be able to come and go as you please. You will also be able to cook meals for yourself, which can be an economical alternative to eating out. Apartments can be a particularly good option if you are staying in a large group as there are apartment options for larger groups than you will generally find for hotels. It is worth noting that apartments are not always a viable option if you are visiting Valencia for a mini break – lots of apartment rental companies require a minimum stay in their apartments of at least 3 nights.
AirBnB
Airbnbs are a great option if you are looking for low cost, convenient locations with household amenities. They are often immersed in neighborhoods, condos, and townhomes. They’re along beaches, main attractions, main streets or off the beaten path. The best part of staying at AirBnBs is the personal interaction you have with the owners who are typically very helpful with recommendations, directions, and any information they feel may benefit you on your trip.
Villas
If you are looking to stay in a villa in Valencia, you will have to stay in the region of Valencia rather than in the city centre. Villas tend to be found in more rural locations and are not normally found in Valencia city centre. When searching, look for ‘Casas Rurales’.
Choosing where to stay in Valencia can be a tough decision. Think about what type of accommodation option best suits you and then hunt around for that accommodation option in the part of Valencia that you most want to stay in. It is worth remembering that the further in advance you get your accommodation booked, the less expensive it is likely to be.
